Wilmark Rizzo Hernandez, born on May 31, 1977 in Bogota, Colombia, is the founder of the Latin American Academy of Dance in Bucharest. While in Romania for university studies, the longing for the energy oh this native country, its tropical atmosphere, and party people reignites his passion for Latin-American music. At the opening of the first-ever Latin-American disco-club in Romania, in 1995, he stands out due to his skills for the traditional "Salsa Mambo” dance style, his perfect body control, well-rounded movements, and natural vibrations. Since then, the dance floor becomes his passion, Wilmark being one of the main figures contributing to the development of the Latin-American culture scene in the Balkans. Having graduated from the Escuela de Danza y Musica Latinoamericana from Bogota, he decides to create his dance company and starts training his own dancers.
2004 - Wilmark launches "The Latin Dance Academy" in Bucharest under the slogan "La Salsa Cambiara Tu Vida!”
Between 2006 and 2013, Wilmark Rizzo was a member of the jury of the Romanian format of the TV show, "Dancing with the Stars”;
2011 - Organizer of the Latin Dance Cup Romania - World Latin Dance Cup franchise, USA;
2010 - Jury at the International Dance Competition, "Bailando por un Sueño International", representing Romania, organized in Mexico;
2017 - Member of the jury at the Colombian Dance Prize, Colombia, Medellin.
Nowadays- Wilmark is an instructor at Wilmark Dance Academy in Romania and organizer and recurrent entertainer of the festival Salsa Week Romania.
